Bharara, Yates top Twitter list of most followed new political accounts

Two officials fired by President Trump are in the top 10 of followed new political accounts of 2017.

Former U.S. attorney Preet Bharara and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates top this year’s list of “Top Followed New U.S. Political Accounts on Twitter.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper tweeted out the top 10 list, which also includes White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Obama White House photographer Pete Souza.

Bharara, who has 552,000 followers, is an outspoken critic of Trump and frequently tweets his criticisms and jabs at the president.

Trump fired Bharara from his U.S. attorney post in March after he refused to resign.

Yates was fired from her post as acting Attorney General in January after she refused to enforce Trump’s first travel ban.

The list also includes Obama foreign policy adviser Ben Rhodes, Obama national security adviser Susan Rice, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, Housing Secretary Ben Carson, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.
