Alec Baldwin rips Oliver, Colbert for turning talk shows into ‘grand juries’

Actor Alec Baldwin ripped late night hosts John Oliver and Stephen Colbert on Wednesday for turning their shows into “grand juries.”

“Talk shows were once promotional pit stops for some blithe chit chat about movies, etc. Now the likes of @iamjohnoliver and @StephenAtHome have flipped that and they are beginning to resemble grand juries,” Baldwin tweeted from his charitable foundation’s account that he shares with his wife.

The Golden Globe-winning actor’s comments come after Oliver on Monday confronted actor Dustin Hoffman over sexual misconduct allegations while at a film festival discussion panel.

The “Last Week Tonight” host confronted Hoffman over the accusation that Hoffman groped a 17-year-old intern on the set of his 1985 movie “Death of a Salesman,” saying his public apology for his past behavior “feels like a dismissal.”

Colbert, a veteran political comedian and host of CBS’s “Late Show,” recently sat down with former “Access Hollywood” anchor Billy Bush to discuss his infamous 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape, in which Donald Trump is heard making lewd comments about women and bragging about sexual assault. The tape was leaked to The Washington Post in the final months of the 2016 presidential race.

Baldwin, himself a regular impersonator of Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” is reportedly in talks with ABC about a possible talk show.
