New York Daily News rips GOP tax plan: ‘Art of the Steal’
The New York Daily News slammed President Trump and the GOP on its cover over the tax-reform bill that Congress passed early Wednesday.
The newspaper cover features a photo of Trump with the headline, “Art of the Steal,” a play on Trump’s memoir, “The Art of the Deal.”
“Congress OKs tax heist rewarding mega-rich, socking middle class and blue states,” it reads.
The photo caption reads: “President Trump, who has vowed to sign tax bill, can laugh all the way to the bank with his rich pals.”
Trump has repeatedly claimed that he will not benefit personally from the tax cuts, despite multiple analyses of the bill that show he will.
The Daily News tweeted out a photo of the cover, writing “Happy Holidays 1-percenters!”

The tax bill overhauls the tax code, cutting corporate tax rates and increasing the standard deduction.
{mosads}Opponents of the bill have said that it will benefit the wealthy, including the Trump family, at the expense of middle- and low-income families.
The House will have to vote again on the bill later Wednesday because of two provisions in the bill that did not comply with Senate budget reconciliation rules. Trump has said that he plans to sign the bill by Christmas.
