Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said Saturday during a March for Our Lives rally that he is proud to wear the “F” rating he received from the National Rifle Association (NRA).
“You know the NRA gave me an ‘F’ and I am proud to wear that ‘F,’” the civil rights hero told a crowd gathered in Atlanta.
He touted the fact that many Democrats in the House also have low ratings from the NRA because of their efforts pushing for gun control.

“On the Democratic side of the House of Representatives, many members of Congress are wearing an F,” he said.
Lewis urged the people at the rally to keep fighting for gun reform and said he believes a victory is possible.
“You must never give up. Never give in. Keep your place and you are going to have a victory.”
The rally was one of hundreds being organized for Saturday in cities around the world.
The organizers of the main rally in Washington, D.C., received a permit for 500,000 people to march downtown.
The White House issued a statement Saturday praising students taking part in the rallies for “exercising their First Amendment rights.”
