A group called Gays Against Guns set up a mock runway Saturday where people could “sashay away” the National Rifle Association (NRA) a block from the White House during the “March for Our Lives” gun control rally in Washington, D.C.
People participating in the rally were encouraged to walk down the runway as a crowd cheered them on, The Miami Herald reported.
“These politicians act so ridiculous, so we’re going to show them just how ridiculous they really are,” Aaron Overman, a member of the group from D.C. told the newspaper.

He noted that even though the event can be somber, people are still looking to have fun and socialize.
Early estimates from organizers reported that as many as 800,000 people attended the rally in D.C. The rally was largely organized by student survivors of the Florida school shooting in February.
Sibling marches are also taking place on Saturday in hundreds of cities around the world.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department has yet to release its own estimates of the crowd size.
