Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) on Tuesday said that Republican will regret President Trump’s frequent attacks on the Justice Department in the wake of a new spate of criticisms from the president.

“The whole point of Trump’s attacks on the IG report, like his attacks on the Mueller investigation, is to make sure his supporters don’t trust or believe the results. Whatever the results are,” Walsh tweeted.
“One day, Republicans are going to regret these attacks on the FBI & the Justice Dept.,” he said.
Walsh, who is now a conservative radio host, has become a regular critic of Trump’s rhetoric. He was referring to a Tuesday morning tweet in which Trump questioned the status of an inspector general report on the FBI’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
The report has not yet been released.
The president has frequently launched attacks against his own Justice Department, focusing in particular on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Trump has called the probe a “witch hunt” and a “hoax,” and recently claimed without evidence to back his claim that it’s “unconstitutional.”
He has also lashed out at his own attorney general, Jeff Sessions. Trump reiterated Tuesday morning that he would not have picked Sessions for the position if he knew Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia probe.
Trump has also shared theories without evidence that the FBI embedded a spy in his campaign, and has personally attacked ex-FBI officials James Comey and Andrew McCabe.
