Avenatti: Trump has ‘severely tarnished’ the office of the presidency

Stormy Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti on Monday indicated that he thinks President Trump’s “constant baffoonery” has “severely tarnished” the presidency.

Without directly naming Trump, Avenatti implied that the president is not someone who children can “look up to” as a role model.

“Do remember in years past when you wanted your son or daughter to look up to the President of the United States as a role model?” he tweeted. “The Office of the President has been severely tarnished in the eyes of America and the World as a result of the constant baffoonery. This must end.”

Avenatti is representing adult-film star Daniels in her lawsuit against Trump and his former attorney, Michael Cohen.{mosads}

Daniels was paid $130,000 by Cohen days before the 2016 presidential election, which she says was part of a nondisclosure agreement involving an alleged 2006 affair with Trump. She is now suing the pair for defamation and to void the nondisclosure agreement.

Daniels’s case has remained in the national spotlight, prompting Avenatti’s rise as a recognizable and frequent Trump critic.

Some have even speculated that Avenatti himself would mount a presidential bid, something he said he was giving “serious thought.”

In addition to targeting Trump and Cohen over topics related to their legal battle, Avenatti has taken a number of personal shots at the president.

On Saturday, he questioned Trump’s intelligence, suggesting that he and other presidential candidates should be required to take an intelligence exam and publicly release the results before the 2020 election.
