MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell detailed his predictions for the end of the Trump presidency on Friday night, suggesting that the Secret Service could physically remove President Trump from the White House.
Appearing on Bill Maher’s “Real Time” on HBO, O’Donnell said he thinks Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) will defeat Trump in 2020.
“The most likely ending of it is when Elizabeth Warren, or whoever the Democratic nominee is, beats him in the next election,” O’Donnell said.
“You think if he loses the election he will just greet her at the door?” Maher responded.
{mosads}O’Donnell said that no matter Trump’s response, the chief justice of the Supreme Court will administer the oath of office to the new president on Inauguration Day.
“She becomes president because of the time of day, not because of anything he does,” O’Donnell said. “He doesn’t have to show up, he never has to concede. … The second she takes that oath, she’s the president, he isn’t any longer, Secret Service will physically remove him from the building if he’s still there.”
“Did you ever have to remove a tick from your dog?” Maher joked, comparing the two scenarios.
Warren has said she does not plan to run in 2020, but she is one of dozens of potential contenders who could take on Trump in the next election, including big names such as former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)
Trump announced his bid for reelection earlier this year, announcing his campaign slogan: “Keep America Great.”
