Kellyanne Conway defends Trump: Husband isn’t a psychiatrist

Kellyanne Conway defended President Trump amid an escalating feud between the president and her husband in an interview with Politico published Wednesday.

“You think he shouldn’t respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder? You think he should just take that sitting down?” she said.

Conway, the White House counselor, told the publication that Trump disregarded her husband’s criticism for months “out of respect for me” but that she didn’t blame him for firing back after George Conway suggested earlier this week that Trump had diagnosable narcissistic personality disorder.

{mosads}“Don’t play psychiatrist any more than George should be,” Conway told the publication. “You’re not a psychiatrist and he’s not, respectfully.”

George Conway has criticized Trump on Twitter for months, but Trump did not respond until Tuesday, quote-tweeting his campaign manager Brad Parscale accusing Conway of being jealous of his wife and calling him “a total loser!”

Conway told The Washington Post that the tweet was a “perfect example of the point I was making.”

The back-and-forth continued on Wednesday, with Trump calling Conway the “husband from hell” and a “wack job” while Conway called Trump “nuts.”

Conway said Monday she did not share her husband’s concerns. She also told Politico the feud has not affected her job.

“Why would it affect my job? Hasn’t everybody tried to push me out already and here I am, stronger than ever,” she said. “You’re looking at it the wrong way.”
