New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) fired back at Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) after the senator criticized New York City for its “crime and migrants.”

“Hope @JoeBiden enjoyed going out for ice cream in NYC while the rest of the city is afraid of crime and migrants,” Tuberville posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Biden was in Manhattan to do an interview for the 10th anniversary of NBC’s “Late Night” with Seth Meyers. He stopped in to get ice cream after appearing on the show Monday and said he he hoped there would be a cease-fire in Gaza by Monday.

Adams, in response to the senator, said he guessed Tuberville “hasn’t visited New York City in a while.”

“Jobs are up, crime is down and we’re delivering for working people,” Adams posted in response. “All that AND we support reproductive health.”

The mayor highlighted the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision that ruled that frozen embryos are people. The decision did not outlaw in vitro fertilization (IVF) but has upended current treatment and may make it more expensive and inaccessible going forward.

After the ruling came down Feb. 16, Tuberville acknowledged the challenging situation some women will face.

“That’s a hard one. It really is,” he told reporters.

He later said that he wanted people to have the opportunity to have children and said it was “unfortunate” that women would lose access to the treatment.

In another post online, Tuberville slammed Biden as “an embarrassment” for his ice cream outing.

“Our border is wide open, inflation is killing the middle class, and our ally – Israel – is under constant terrorist attacks,” he posted. “Meanwhile, @JoeBiden is going out for ice cream and publicly undermining our closest ally.”
