Buzz Aldrin marks launch of Apollo 11 mission to the moon

Buzz Aldrin shared a photo on Thursday of him and fellow astronauts as they prepared for the first moon landing in honor of the day’s milestone: 50 years since they took off for the mission. 

“Exactly 50 years ago today, we were on our way to the Moon! It was an honor to work with this crew and a privilege to complete the mission of a lifetime,” Aldrin tweeted.

Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) tweeted that Aldrin’s post is the ultimate “Throwback Thursday.”
