Sarah Sanders says she ‘can’t think of anything dumber than’ having Congress run foreign policy

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed the House’s upcoming vote on a resolution to limit Trump’s ability to conduct military actions against Iran, saying she couldn’t think of “anything dumber than allowing Congress to take over our foreign policy.”

“The last thing we want to do is push powers into Congress’ hands and take them away from the president,” she said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

Sanders, who left her position at the White House in June, is now a Fox News contributor.

Independent Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.) quipped back by writing that Sanders “can’t think of anything dumber than the Constitution.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had argued earlier in the day that the war powers resolution was unconstitutional and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) slammed it as powerless.

Trump tweeted Thursday that he hopes House Republicans will vote against “Crazy Nancy Pelosi’s War Powers Resolution,” calling the legislation “Presidential Harassment.”
