Blumenthal demurs on whether he still emails with Clinton

Sidney Blumenthal, a longtime Clinton backer and informal adviser during her tenure as secretary of State, demurred about whether he still emails with her.

{mosads}Several of Blumenthal’s emails to Hillary became public during the ongoing investigation into her private email server.

“Do you still email with Hillary Clinton?” asked MSNBC host Chris Hayes during Blumenthal’s Thursday appearance on his show.

“Do I still email with Hillary Clinton? We’re friends,” Blumenthal responded.

“You can answer that,” Hayes said.

“No, no, we’ve been friends for 30 years,” Blumenthal said.

Blumenthal, who was also an aide to President Bill Clinton during his administration, sent about 25 memos to Clinton regarding Libya while she was secretary, including one that blamed the 2012 Benghazi attack on a “sacrilegious” Internet video depicting the prophet Mohammad.

He was also outed as calling then-House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) a louche, lazy alcoholic “without any commitment to principle.”

Blumenthal most recently worked as an employee of the Clinton Foundation. He also had business transactions with Libya’s transitional government.
