TalkingPointsMemo

A voter fraud investigation conducted by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) turned up just 26 cases that all involved Democrats and most of which involved eligible voters casting legitimate mail-in ballots, Josh Marshall writes. The investigation’s paltry results hardly justify voter identification laws that make it more difficult for eligible voters to exercise their rights at the polls, Marshall concludes. The blogger also agrees with Hillary Clinton, who has criticized John McCain’s latest ad foretelling his future accomplishments as president. Marshall finds the ad reminiscent of President Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” declaration over the Iraq war in 2003.
