The Democratic-led Congress is putting “political gamesmanship” above the troops, according to Brian Faughnan. He notes that Democratic leaders may bring a war spending bill to the House floor without first going through the Appropriations committee because they’re worried about both liberals and Republicans who would otherwise oppose it. Faughnan calls for a “simple funding bill” without spending for other programs and with no policy provisions. Michael Goldfarb sees good news for John McCain in the latest Fox News poll, which has more Democrats believing that Hillary Clinton, not Barack Obama, has the better chance of beating McCain. Democrats polled also find Clinton tougher and more trustworthy than the front-runner.
