SUNDAY ROUNDUP

The possibility that President-elect Barack Obama will hold off on a repeal of President Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy has disappointed liberal bloggers. Obama’s Cabinet has already given bloggers on both sides something to complain about. The “Saturday Night Live” portrayal of Obama’s profane chief of staff-designate, Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), makes bloggers laugh.

The suggestions by Obama’s aides that he’ll delay repealing the tax cuts confuses The Huffington Post’s David Sirota, who recalls that tax raises on the wealthy contributed to an economic boom under President Clinton. But it’s not a bad thing that Obama realizes he needs more capital instead of more taxes when trying to govern during an economic crisis, writes Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey.

Liberals shouldn’t be mystified by Obama’s appointment of centrist Democrats and Republicans to his Cabinet, since he’s a centrist, establishment politician himself, writes Glenn Greenwald. While the selection of conservative aides pleases DRJ of Patterico’s Pontifications, it also makes the blogger think that Obama has no principles.

With Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) no longer running for national office, SNL turns its lens on Emanuel, who has a reputation for being coarse with lawmakers, writes The Swamp’s Mark Silva. In the skit, Emanuel makes profanity-laced threats against anyone thinking about crossing Obama.
