GOP super PAC buying ads in Alabama special election

The Senate Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC, will buy at least $2.65 million in television ads for Alabama’s upcoming special election.

“This $2.65 million buy is just an initial down payment on Senate Leadership Fund’s commitment to supporting Senator Strange,” spokesman Chris Pack said in a statement.

{mosads}The seat opened after President Trump chose Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) to serve as attorney general.

Gov. Robert Bentley (R) appointed Republican Luther Strange to fill the vacancy in early February, following Sessions’s confirmation and resignation.

The primary is scheduled for Aug. 15, and it will be followed by a runoff in late September and a general election in December.
