Poll: Gillum, Nelson running dead even in Florida races
Florida’s gubernatorial and Senate races are dead even just about five weeks before the midterm elections, according to new polls released Tuesday.
The surveys, conducted for Gray Television by Strategic Research Associates, showed Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (D) with a 44 to 43 percent lead over Rep. Ron DeSantis (R) among likely voters, with 12 percent still undecided.
{mosads} Meanwhile, incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D) leads Gov. Rick Scott (R) 45 to 44 percent, with 11 percent undecided.
Both of those leads fall well within the poll’s 3.46 point margin of error.
Nelson and Scott have been running dead even in recent polls, including one by the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of North Florida last month that showed the two candidates tied at 45 percent among likely voters.
Nelson and Scott are due to hold their first debate at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Gillum was ahead by 4.1 points over DeSantis according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.
The surveys, conducted by Strategic Research Associates, LLC, polled 800 likely voters between Sept. 17 and 30.
