Trump: ‘Republican Senators must come through’ on healthcare

President Trump said early Friday morning that GOP plans to repeal and replace ObamaCare “must happen” as Senate leadership works to gather the necessary support for its revised legislation.

In a series of early morning tweets, President Trump said, “Republican Senators must come through as they promised,” laying responsibility for the bill’s passage at the feet Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Senate Republicans on Thursday revealed their latest healthcare overhaul legislation, aimed at shoring up support among conservatives after the original bill was pulled from a procedural vote before the July Fourth recess.

Moderate GOP senators are demanding changes to the healthcare plan before a floor vote planned for next week.

Two Republicans have already announced their opposition to the revised bill, and McConnell can’t afford to lose any more with every Democrat said to vote against it.

Trump’s messages appear to have been sent from Paris, where the president is set to attend Bastille Day celebrations on Friday.
