Eric Trump: My brother’s being attacked for publicly supporting our father

Eric Trump came to the defense of his brother Tuesday, saying Donald Trump Jr. is being attacked for being a strong public supporter of their father.

“This is the EXACT reason they viciously attack our family! They can’t stand that we are extremely close and will ALWAYS support each other,” Eric Trump tweeted.

His message came in response to a clip posted by United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) and Brexit leader Nigel Farage defending Donald Trump Jr., saying the president’s eldest son is being attacked for supporting his father.

{mosads}In the clip Farage, one of President Trump’s top allies in Britain, defends Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer who claimed to have incriminating information about Hillary Clinton.

He said he believed Trump Jr. had never contacted the Russians before and predicted that “in a week’s time, this will simply have died.”

“Donald Jr. is pretty much the best public supporter of his father that there is in the business and he’s done nothing wrong at all,” Farage said. “Certainly nothing wrong compared to some of the things Hillary was accused of in the campaign.”

Trump Jr. is facing intense scrutiny after he released emails on Tuesday detailing his conversations with acquaintance Rob Goldstone setting up a meeting with the Russian lawyer, who said she had damaging information about Clinton.

“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump,” Goldstone wrote.

“If it’s what you say I love it,” Trump Jr. said in response to the potential information on Clinton.

Trump Jr. said no information came out of the meeting and that the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, wanted to discuss Russian-American adoption policy.

President Trump said in a statement Tuesday that Trump Jr. “is a high-quality person and I applaud his transparency.”
