Santorum hasn’t talked to Romney since endorsement

{mosads}”No,” he said, there have been no phone calls, tweets or other communication. But he added that his people are in touch with Romney’s and that he is doing what he can to help his former rival’s campaign.

Santorum, who dropped his own bid for the presidency in April and endorsed Romney about a month later, maintained that there is no lingering animosity between the two men. Santorum gave Romney the longest-running serious competition in both polls and delegate counts, and each blasted the other with negative ads.

Santorum’s delayed endorsement, which came via email, added to speculation that Santorum’s support for Romney’s GOP nomination was less than enthusiastic. Tradition would have Santorum on Romney’s shortlist for possible running mates, but Santorum said Sunday he has not been vetted so far.

Santorum announced last week that he is forming a political advocacy organization called Patriot Voices to promote conservative causes.

He denied that he is already gearing up for another run at the White House, saying he is “increasingly” hopeful that a Republican will win in November.

“I have a hard enough time planning things eight weeks away, let alone eight years,” he said.
