Biden says Romney was ‘sketchy’ during debate
Later in his speech, Biden said that one of the biggest policy differences between the Democratic ticket compared to Romney and his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.) was on women’s issues.
Biden alluded to a part of the debate in which Romney described how, during his time as governor of Massachusetts, he had organized a “binder” of strong potential female employees for positions in his administration.
{mosads}”And you heard [in] the debate last night when Gov. Romney was asked a direct question about equal pay [and] he started talking about binders,” Biden said. “Folks, the idea that he needed to ask where a qualified woman was — he just should’ve come to my house. He didn’t need a binder.”
Biden added that on women’s health issues, Romney and Ryan are actually not “sketchy.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, on women’s health they want to turn power over to the insurance company, allow them to charge 50 percent more for the same coverage on average,” Biden said.
Biden also described Romney as in a “time warp” on women’s rights.
“And for good measure, Romney said on multiple occasions that he wants to get rid of Planned Parenthood. It’s not just the Swiss bank accounts and the Cayman Islands,” Biden said.
“No, really it’s more than that. That I understand him doing. I can’t understand someone running for president doing it, but I can understand him doing it. But what I can’t understand is how he has gotten into this sort of 1950s time warp in terms of women.”
