Hatch: Senate GOP not stalling

Sen.
Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Sunday denied that Senate Republicans were
stalling issues in the chamber’s lame-duck session while proposing a
two-year extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.

Speaking
on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Hatch denied Republicans were trying to
delay the START arms control treaty between the U.S. and Russia as well
as the Bush-era tax cuts until January, when the GOP picks up six seats.
Pressed
by CNN Host Candy Crowley on whether Republicans on whether it was “a
logical conclusion” that the GOP was trying to delay, Hatch said no.
“Not
at all,” he said. “We personally are very upset that if we tax people
the way the president wants to do it, you’ll hit 700,000 small
businesses that create all our jobs… We are giving. We are trying to
get this done.”
