Biden to speak at Iowa Dem fundraiser
Vice President Biden will be the keynote speaker at Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D-Iowa) steak fry fundraiser in September, according to reports.
“It has been a long-standing commitment after the Vice President was unable to attend last year,” a representative for Biden told The Des Moines Register.
{mosads}Harkin’s annual steak fry, which will be held Sept. 15, is one of Iowa’s marquee Democratic events and a past stop for many potential presidential contenders.
San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro will also speak at the fundraiser.
Biden has declined to rule out a 2016 presidential run and has made a number of visits to early-voting states.
The vice president visited Iowa in January and South Carolina in May. Later this month he will attend a fundraiser for New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) in neighboring Maine.
Polls show former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has not said whether she will consider a 2016 run, the early Democratic favorite.
