Cain: My campaign coffers are not empty

Herman Cain, a businessman and conservative radio host who announced Saturday he is running for president, insisted Sunday that his campaign coffers are not empty.

Pressed by Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday” about why his Hermanator Political Action Committee (PAC) had only $13 in it at the end of March, Cain said he has a new PAC with more money in it.

{mosads}“The Hermanator PAC, we ceased that at the end of January — at the end of December. So, the people who are looking at the Hermanator PAC account, that’s inactive account,” he said. “We opened up a new one called Friends of Herman Cain, which we will file July 15, according to the FEC.”

But Cain declined to say how much money his new PAC has raised.

“I could, but I won’t, Chris, because I don’t want my competition to know,” he said. “But I do, I can tell you — we are not broke. We are not broke. The PAC account ended December. That’s why it shows $13. Friends of Herman is doing just fine. But we need more.”
