Over the weekend, President Obama declared a state of emergency, allowing Colorado to access federal aid. The White House also said the administration had been in contact with Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D).
{mosads}Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster, the White House statement said.
Hickenlooper told United Press International that he spoke with Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, who assured him that “the $5 million that was released Friday was just the beginning” of federal assistance to the region.
