Former Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz.) is due to begin his prison sentence soon for convictions on money laundering, public corruption and other charges.
Renzi was ordered to report to prison Monday, but asked a judge if that could be postponed to Jan. 13, according to The Associated Press.

The former congressman was accused of using his office for personal financial gain and looting a family insurance business to fund his 2002 congressional campaign. Authorities said Renzi made $700,000 in the deal.
He served in Congress from 2003 until early 2009. He decided to not run for reelection in 2008 because he faced the federal charges.
In October, Renzi was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
