Boehner to visit Jay Leno

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is set to make his first appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” next week.

According to the show, Boehner will stop by the program on Jan. 23 to talk about his “background, life as Speaker of the House and the latest news and politics.”

{mosads}Boehner will be making the appearance a week after the House easily passed a $1 trillion spending bill that averts a government shutdown until the end of the fiscal year.

It also comes ahead of a GOP retreat at the end of the month in Cambridge, Md., to hash out the party’s legislative agenda in the lead up to the 2014 midterm elections. Conservatives have argued for an aggressive agenda, but leaders could favor a safer approach less than a year out from the election.

Boehner has said previously the GOP will focus this year on the core issues of jobs and ObamaCare.

President Obama last visited the show in August.
