Boehner on Christie: ‘Time to move on’

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday offered support for Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.), saying it’s “time to move on” from the traffic scandal that has engulfed him in recent weeks.

Boehner was asked if he’d encourage Republican House members to campaign with Christie, a likely contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

{mosads}“I’ll let each of the members decide that,” he replied. “But listen, I think the governor made clear that mistakes we made. I think he held people accountable. He’s apologized. It’s time to move on.”

Christie, now beginning his second term in office, has apologized repeatedly and fired two of his top aides after emails revealed their involvement in ordering the closure of lanes on the Fort Lee, N.J., side of the George Washington Bridge last year, causing a four-day traffic snarl.
