Former first lady Barbara Bush says she loves Bill Clinton — except for his politics.
“I love Bill Clinton … maybe not his politics, but I love Bill Clinton,” she said in an interview that aired Monday on C-SPAN.
{mosads}She said her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, has become close friends with his successor.
“Bill visits us every summer,” she said. “We don’t agree politically, but we don’t talk politics.”
The former first lady, now 88, said her husband has almost become a father figure to Clinton.
“I think he thinks of George a little bit like the father he didn’t have,” she added.
In the same interview, Bush explains that the presidency should be available to more than just political dynasties.
She says that despite the fact that her son, Jeb Bush, former Republican governor of Florida, could run for the White House in 2016.
