Ex-president: Obama doesn’t call me

Former President Jimmy Carter says President Obama doesn’t call him for advice.

He made the comment in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” which released a preview before it airs on Sunday.

“Unfortunately, the answer is no,” Carter said. “President Obama doesn’t, but previous presidents have called on me and the Carter Center to take action,” including former Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

{mosads}The news organization asked Carter, 89, why he thinks he doesn’t have that type of relationship with Obama.

“That’s a hard question for me to answer with complete candor,” said Carter, who then explained it may be the result of a difference in policies between the administration and his center.

In dealing with peace between Israel and Egypt, Carter said his center publicly stated that Israelis and Palestinians should be treated equally.

“I think this was a sensitive area in which the president didn’t want to be involved,” Carter said in the interview, adding that he understands the sensitivity of the situation.

The 39th president is set to release a new book soon on the treatment of women around the world.
