Anna Wintour hosts fundraiser for Obama
Vogue editor Anna Wintour hosted President Obama at her home for a high-dollar fundraiser benefiting the Democratic National Committee, a party official said Tuesday night.
Around 30 supporters contributed up to $32,400 to attend the closed-press event at Wintour’s Greenwich Village home.
{mosads}It was Obama’s third fundraiser of the night, following a roundtable discussion benefitting the Senate Majority PAC and an LGBT gala also hosted by the DNC.
Wintour is a prolific fundraiser for the president, and was rumored last year as a possible ambassador pick. According to the New York Times, she raised the fourth-most of any Obama bundler during the 2012 campaign.
Last month, first lady Michelle Obama travelled to New York City to attend the ribbon cutting for the renovated costume center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was named in Wintour’s honor after she raised $125 million for the project.
At the event, the first lady, who has appeared twice in Vogue, said she was proud to call Wintour “my friend.”
“I’m here because I have such respect and admiration for this woman,” the first lady said.
