Lynne Cheney jabs at Clinton’s ‘dead broke’ comments

Former second lady Lynne Cheney knocked Hillary Clinton on Monday for her recent comments about leaving the White House “dead broke.”

At an event with her husband Dick Cheney and their daughter, Liz, Cheney explained there are different levels of enthusiasm to get involved in politics.

“When Dick was asked to be vice president, he thought that was a great idea,” she said. “I was not so sure. You know, give up your job, give up your house and move. We weren’t dead broke, excuse me.”

{mosads}Clinton received heavy blowback last month for saying she and her husband, President Bill Clinton, left the White House in 2001 “in debt” and “dead broke.” She soon after tried to walk back those comments and her husband publicly defended her.

Clinton is considered the 2016 Democratic frontrunner for president if she chooses to run.

At the event hosted by Politico featuring the Cheney family, a protester eventually appeared holding handcuffs and yelling that the former vice president is a “war criminal.”
