McConnell: Bourbon with Obama will happen

 

Incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Saturday said he plans to drink bourbon with President Obama.

The Kentucky Republican jokingly told state party leaders that picking the brand of bourbon would be like picking which daughter he loves the most, the Associated Press reported.

{mosads}A day after Democrats lost control of the Senate, Obama said he “would enjoy a Kentucky bourbon” with the new leader, signaling the two could work well together.

Obama’s invitation was quickly dubbed the bourbon summit as it made post-election headlines.

McConnell said Saturday he’s unsure whether the summit is a public relations gimmick or not.
