Ex-bartender charged in plot to kill Boehner gets court hearing
A former country club bartender indicted for threatening to kill House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will appear for a hearing later this month in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati, the Associated Press reported Saturday.
Michael Hoyt, set to appear April 29 to determine whether he is competent to stand trial, had called 911 in October and later told police he “was going to kill Boehner because Boehner was mean to him at the country club and because Boehner is responsible for Ebola,” according to a criminal complaint.
{mosads}After being fired, Hoyt later reportedly told authorities he “often poured drinks for Boehner and could have put something in his drink, but he did not” and that he heard voices saying Boehner was the devil, according to the complaint.
Hoyt has been under mental evaluation and treatment at a federal medical facility in Massachusetts since being indicted in January, though he is reportedly back in federal custody in Ohio, according to the AP.
