Clinton slams Republicans on abortion bill

Hillary Clinton, through a spokeswoman, ripped congressional Republicans’ push to block a Washington, D.C., law on abortion and pledged to “fight to make it easier” for women and families.

A representative for Clinton, a 2016 presidential candidate, said the GOP was trying to “overrule the Democratic process” in a statement released to CNN on Thursday night, shortly before the House vote on the measure.

{mosads}Washington’s law banned city employers from discriminating against employees for using abortion services. Congress has the power to void any measures passed by the city’s council.

“Hillary Clinton has fought for women and families and their right to access the full range of reproductive health care without interference from politicians or employers,” Clinton campaign Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri said in the statement.

“Hillary will fight to make it easier, not more difficult, for women and families to get ahead and ensure that women are not discriminated against for personal medical decisions.”
