Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) on Saturday touted her party’s recent legislative efforts, promising the GOP-led Congress would keep improving life for everyday Americans.
“Here’s the bottom line: We are just getting started on solving problems to empower you to have the opportunity to pursue your own future and reach your full potential,” The House Republican Conference chairwoman said in the GOP’s weekly address.
{mosads}“From the start, our focus has been your priorities,” she said.
“So instead of top-down bureaucrats picking winners and losers, our goal is an opportunity economy built on good-paying jobs and the freedom to innovate,” McMorris added.
“And instead of the same old outdated models in Washington, D.C., we’re working on solutions that empower you to build a better life.”
McMorris Rodgers praised Congress for its efforts against human trafficking, improving care for military veterans and advancing U.S. trading abroad.
She also lauded her colleagues for ending the warrantless bulk collection of individual phone record metadata by the National Security Agency (NSA).
Congress is also commendable, she added, for securing review of President Obama’s historic nuclear agreement with Iran.
McMorris Rodgers then listed some of the goals lawmakers plan on tackling once they return from their August recess.
She said improving the Veterans’ Affairs system and medical solutions are coming moves in the future.
“Of course, we have much more to do,” McMorris Rodgers said. “Dozens of effective solutions to deliver you real results are in the works.”
