Don Henley: Trump has ‘too much pride’

Don Henley is dedicating his song “Too Much Pride” to Donald Trump.

Henley, the singer and drummer for the Eagles, debuted the song on Stephen Colbert’s talk show Tuesday night — the same night that Trump appeared on the program.

{mosads}“Now listen, Mr. Trump. Empires rise and empires fall, you stick around here long enough you’ll see it all,” Henley sang during his appearance that night.

“Now it looks like it’s gone nationwide — too much pride,” he crooned.

“[Trump] is over the line,” he told hosts Charlie Rose and Gayle King on “CBS This Morning.”

“A little pride is a good thing, but when it gets over into hubris and arrogance, then you’re in trouble, I think,” he added.

Henley argued on Wednesday that “Too Much Pride” is a cautionary tale depicting the problems associated with pride.

“I thought that song was an appropriate place to perhaps give a little reminder,” the singer quipped.

Henley added that he is unconcerned if Trump lashes out at him on social media like he has other detractors.

“I don’t tweet, I don’t Facebook [and] I don’t do social media, so I’m fine,” the musician said.

“I’ve never been particularly comfortable in the limelight,” Henley added.  “I like my private life, but I can’t escape my music.”
