John Fogerty: Trump’s run ‘blows my mind’

Rock star John Fogerty said on Monday that he is astounded by Donald Trump’s success as a GOP presidential candidate thus far.

“Believe it or not, when Donald Trump first started making noise, I didn’t think that would last five minutes,” he said, according to Newsweek.

{mosads}“The fact that he’s the front-runner blows my mind,” the former Creedence Clearwater Revival singer and guitarist added.

Fogerty than admitted that he can see why Trump is resonating with everyday Americans.

“I do happen to think he’s shaking things up — I sure like that,” he said of the outspoken billionaire.

“I like the rebelliousness of him and the fact that he’s upsetting a lot of Republicans,” Fogerty said. “I think that’s cool.”

“The fact that he’s a billionaire means that he can’t be bought,” he added. “I’m a little distrustful of billionaires in the first place, but I like that he’s outside the normal political circles.”

Fogerty argued on Monday that he would pick Democrat Hillary Clinton over Trump should both make it into next year’s general presidential election.

“Of course I’d vote for Hillary,” he said. “I’m a life-long liberal, and for me, that has always translated into being a Democrat.”

“Our system in America isn’t perfect, but liberals tend to have the little guy in mind,” Fogerty said. “When they talk, at least, they’re in favor of trying to make everybody’s life a lot better.”

“I never heard a lot of talk like that come out of the Republicans,” the musician added.

Fogerty stopped short of immediately endorsing Clinton’s White House run, however.

“I don’t know,” he said when asked about voting for the former secretary of State. “I always get a little uncomfortable with people supporting candidates.”

“Certainly Hillary is more in line with my philosophy than anyone else I can think of right now,” Fogerty added. “Now, if [former President] Bill Clinton was running, I’d vote for him in a heartbeat, but that won’t work now.”
