Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly will moderate the network’s Jan. 28 GOP presidential debate along with colleagues Chris Wallace and Bret Baier, the network announced Monday.
The trio will return to moderating after handling the first GOP debate of the cycle in August, after which front-runner Donald Trump feuded with Kelly and the network for months, claiming unfair treatment.
{mosads}Trump’s barbs continued as recently as last week, when he needled Kelly for being “very bad at math” after she misstated the businessman’s polling lead over his GOP rivals, an error blamed on a problem with a script.
The network’s two-hour debate in Des Moines, Iowa, in late January will air days before Republicans cast their ballots in the the state’s caucuses on Feb. 1.
Criteria for the prime-time event have not yet been announced. It will be the seventh Republican debate, following a Fox Business Network debate Jan. 14 in South Carolina. The GOP fifth debate was last week.
January’s debates will have a smaller crop of candidates than the first event, which had 17 candidates. Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) on Monday became the latest Republican to drop out, leaving 13 major candidates.
