Police in Vienna say they have stepped up security after several European capitals were warmed of a potential attack involving explosives and firearms, according to The Associated Press.
Authorities said in a statement Saturday that the tip came from a “friendly” intelligence agency.
{mosads}Police spokesman Christoph Poelzl told the Austria Press Agency that no concrete threat has been identified.
No events in the city have been shut down, but police said they will step up surveillance of public places where crowds are expected to gather, including transportation hubs.
The threats against the European capitals come after the Nov. 13 terrorist attack in Paris carried out by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, in which 130 people were killed.
