Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump liked hearing that Democratic former President Jimmy Carter prefers him to rival Ted Cruz.
“He’s got good taste,” Trump told ABC News on Thursday when asked about Carter’s remarks.
{mosads}Carter said Wednesday that if he had to choose between the two GOP candidates, he’d pick Trump, adding his choice “may surprise some of you.”
The former president argued that the real estate mogul is “completely malleable” in his positions, while Cruz would stick to the “far right-wing policies” that he has advocated.
Cruz, who defeated Trump in the Iowa caucuses Monday night and has argued that Trump does not hold conservative positions, immediately put the former Democratic president’s support for Trump into a campaign video.
