Hillary Clinton to attend Nancy Reagan’s funeral

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton will take a break from the campaign trail Friday to attend former first lady Nancy Reagan’s funeral, according to a campaign aide.

Reagan’s private funeral services will be held late Friday morning at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi, Calif., the library’s foundation announced earlier this week.

{mosads}The public will be able to pay their respects when Reagan lies in repose at the library on Wednesday and Thursday before the funeral. She’ll be buried next to her husband on the library grounds.

Nancy Reagan died from congestive heart failure on Sunday at the age of 94, leading to an outpouring of remembrances from figures including President Obama, Vice President Biden and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).

First lady Michelle Obama will also be in attendance at the funeral Friday. The president, who with the first lady praised Reagan in a statement over the weekend, will not attend and is slated to appear at an event in Texas.

Clinton, herself a former first lady, is battling rival Bernie Sanders on the campaign trail in Michigan ahead of that state’s primary on Tuesday, facing off with the Independent Vermont senator in forums the past two days.
