Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly says that she’d “absolutely” welcome Donald Trump to her show for an interview despite months of feuding with the GOP front-runner.
“If on Monday, Donald Trump says, ‘I want to come on your show. Would you say, ‘You’re welcome, come on. We have a spot for you?'” Charlie Rose asked during an interview slated to air on “CBS Sunday Morning,” with an excerpt broadcast Friday on “CBS This Morning.”
“Absolutely,” Kelly responded.
{mosads}Kelly said that she sees a “coarsening of the culture” during the 2016 presidential race, adding she thought Trump could be “so much more effective” as a presidential candidate “if he could pull himself back in, you know, just somewhat.”
The Fox anchor said the pair didn’t have much of a relationship before the August debate when she confronted Trump over his past remarks on women, which sparked months of feuding, including Trump blasting her as “overrated” and more recently as “sick” and “crazy.”
The network in mid-March issued a blistering statement ripping Trump’s “extreme, sick obsession” with Kelly, who has co-moderated the Fox News debates this cycle, including the August one.
Trump has shown little interest in mending the relationship, going out of his way during an interview this week to knock “another Megyn Kelly hit” when pressed about critical remarks from a guest on her show.
“Frankly, you can have Megyn Kelly,” Trump told her Fox colleagues on Wednesday.
