Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus said on Sunday he thinks there’s some truth to what Donald Trump’s convention manager, Paul Manafort, said about the GOP presidential front-runner playing a “part.”

“I think there’s a little bit of truth at every, at every angle here,” he said in response to a question on ABC’s “This Week” about who the real Trump is.

{mosads}”I think you’re seeing Donald Trump at these rallies, and I think what he’s trying to say at these rallies is that if he was just politically correct, people wouldn’t be there.

“And I also think that Paul Manafort and people like Rick Wiley understand that being presidential and being at 30,000 feet is something that’s going to be really important in the home stretch.”

Priebus added that he thinks being presidential is important.

“So, yes, we think that tone matters and being presidential, it does matter. And I get the sense that they get that,” he said.

“But we’ll wait and see.”

Manafort told members of the RNC at the party’s spring meeting in Hollywood, Fla., that Trump “gets it.”

“The part that he’s been playing is now evolving into the part that you’ve been expecting. The negatives will come down, the image is going to change, but ‘Crooked Hillary’ is still going to be ‘Crooked Hillary,’ ” Manafort said, referring to Trump’s moniker for Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton

On Sunday, Manafort said his comments were taken out of context.
