Former Boehner aide’s dog stolen out of car

A former spokesman for former Speaker John Boehner is offering a reward after his four-month-old Boston terrier was stolen out of his car in Washington, D.C.

Michael Steel and his wife, Mary Kathryn Steel, are offering $10,000 for their dog’s return, ABC 7 reported.

{mosads}Steel on Tuesday said the dog, named Maggie, was in the backseat of his car parked at 9th and K streets Northwest.

“I took her out to the park, we walked around, and I put her in the back of the car. That was the last time I saw her,” Michael Steel said.

“I was hoping when they realized that it was just a tiny puppy, they would let her go. She’s scared, she’s cold, she’s wet. She doesn’t like to be wet or cold. I’m afraid they put her in a dumpster somewhere, or tossed her down a storm drain. Busiest intersection in town? This is not what you’d expect.”

“I feel like she’s brought so much joy to all of us,” Mary Kathryn Steel said. “I miss her. Anything anyone can do to bring our baby back.”

“Maggie has taught me what it means to love,” Michael Steel said. “She’s a sweet puppy. She needs to come home.”

Maggie was suffering from heartworm, tapeworm and parasites, he added, so the animal is already in fragile condition.

Maggie vanished around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after someone broke a window in Michael Steel’s car.

Maggie weighs 7 to 8 pounds, and the Steels have set up a special email account at lostbostonterrierdc@gmail.com for tips about her whereabouts.
