RNC video spotlights Dem convention ‘chaos’
The Republican National Committee on Tuesday released a new video highlighting what they called “chaos” on the first day of the Democratic National Convention.
{mosads}The video, titled “Chaos At The DNC,” opens with clips of people at the convention booing when presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s name is said. It also shows people in the streets shouting in support of her primary opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
It also features footage of Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz being booed while speaking Monday to Florida’s convention delegates.
At the end of the RNC’s video, a clip shows someone holding a sign that reads: “Never Hillary.”
Wasserman Schultz faced backlash after a trove of emailed was released by WikiLeaks last week that appeared to show top officials at the DNC discussing how to undermine Sanders’s presidential campaign.
Wasserman Schultz announced on Sunday she would resign at the end of the convention. She had originally planned to open the convention but abandoned her plan on Monday.
Throughout the day, Sanders supporters held protests around the arena, and inside, many interrupted the convention’s speakers with chants.
Democrats have been trying to unify their party ahead of the general election. On Monday night, Sanders spoke at the convention, where he said he would continue his political revolution and urged his supporters to back Clinton.
But the tumultuous day raised questions about whether Sanders supporters would unify behind Clinton, and Republicans sought to play up that discord.
RNC chief strategist Sean Spicer said the Democratic Convention has been “a mess in every way.”
“And the backlash coming from the grassroots at a rigged and corrupt system within their party shows Democrats won’t be uniting any time soon,” he said in a statement.
“With so many Dems still feeling the Bern and rejecting Hillary Clinton’s cronyism, it’s clear the Democrat Party is moving quickly to the extreme left and leaving mainstream America behind in the process.”
