Sunday shows preview: Convention cleanup, Russian intrigue

Hillary Clinton was officially confirmed as the first woman to be a major party’s presidential nominee this week, and her first post-convention interview will be part of the Sunday talk show lineup.

{mosads}Clinton’s coronation was nearly overshadowed by a leak of hacked Democratic National Committee emails that seemed to indicate a bias against her primary opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and led to Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigning as chairwoman.

Trump, who critics have suggested is cozying up to Russian President Vladimir Putin, called on the Russians to find and release emails from Clinton’s time as secretary of State. The mogul later said he was being sarcastic.

Still, Trump and his campaign manager Paul Manafort are expected to be asked in their Sunday appearances about what appears to be Russian intervention against their campaign opponent.

Here’s the full lineup:

ABC’s “This Week:” Trump gives an interview. Vice President Biden makes an appearance. Retired Marine Gen. John Allen, who delivered scathing criticisms of Trump at the Democratic convention, talks about his support for Clinton.

CBS’s “Face the Nation:” Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort will respond to critics who are linking his candidate to Putin. Sanders makes an appearance to discuss whether his supporters will rally around Clinton. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus will talk about the Democratic convention.

CNN’s “State of the Union:” Khizr Khan gives an interview following is emotional speech at the Democratic convention. Trump surrogate Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and Clinton’s running mate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) make appearances.

“Fox News Sunday:” Clinton makes a rare Fox News appearance, giving her first post-convention interview.

NBC’s “Meet the Press:” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange discusses the DNC leak. Manafort makes an appearance.
