Huma Abedin, a top aide to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, cited security reasons in October 2009 to explain why she wouldn’t be using her Blackberry and personal clintonemail.com account when traveling to Moscow.

“Want to make sure DC is aware that those of us in the Russia traveling party will be leaving blackberries on the airplane once we touch down in moscow tonite,” Abedin wrote in an email addressed to several department officials on Oct. 12, 2009, according to the email chain that was obtained by Fox News on Tuesday.

{mosads}”Hopefully lew can also pass on numbers so you can reach us direct on tuesday and wednesday. We will be checking email periodically, but for the most part cell phones will be fastest way to reach us.”

Abedin was referring to former Deputy Secretary of State Jacob Lew, who is now the secretary of the Treasury.

Abedin then forwarded the email to several people and said: “Fyi for tues and wed. We won’t have berries in russia.” The recipients included a senior official at the Clinton Foundation, Doug Band, and a longtime aide to former President Bill Clinton, Justin Cooper.

“Are they taking them from u. Bc ur clintonemail.com shld work,” Cooper said.

“Its for security reasons,” Abedin responded. “I don’t want to use that one either.”

Earlier this month, the FBI uncovered nearly 15,000 previously undisclosed documents sent directly to or from the Democratic nominee. The documents were found during the course of the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server from her time as secretary of State.
