Former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Wednesday fired back at former President Bill Clinton’s claim that most of Donald Trump’s supporters are “rednecks.”

{mosads}“I know a lot of people who are not rednecks who are ardent Trump supporters, including yours truly. I don’t think I’m a redneck,” Carson, a Trump supporter, said in an interview with Fox News’s Martha MacCallum, as reported first by the Washington Times.

During a campaign stop for his wife Hillary Democratic presidential campaign in Florida on Tuesday, Bill Clinton labeled the majority of Trump supporters as “standard” rednecks.

“The other guy’s base is what I grew up in,” Clinton said.

“You know, I’m basically your standard redneck,” he said as the audience began to laugh. “I was the first person who ever went to college in my family.”

In the same speech, Clinton also said West Virginia voters “only watch Fox News.”
